Biography

I was born into an artistic and musical Anglo Indian family in Kent, England in 1962. Although I loved creating art throughout my childhood I also wanted to be a nurse, and trained in London before travelling and emigrating to Western Australia at age 24. Nursing quickly surrendered to the art and I went straight into Perth's Claremont School of Fine Art for three years. Later I studied with master  painter Michael Challen in Brisbane, Queensland to

enhance my proficiency with painting light and glazing in oils. My major areas of expertise lie in the mediums of oils, pastels and mosaics. I draw my inspiration from meditation, soul's journey, poetry, hiking in nature and many other experiences that bring an opening of the heart.

Travel has also been a major influence in my art too. Journeys to such places as Australia, India, Bali, the US, Italy and France have been a great inspiration with their color and light, their architecture and landscapes and their love of life. Spiritually, my works of art are often a reflection of places I have visited in meditation.

I have shown my work in solo and group exhibitions in Australia during the past 20 years and been blessed with many patrons. The paintings and pastels have also been showcased in many publications and are held all over the world in private collections.

I recently returned to Perth, Australia  in late 2008 after three very creative years in Santa Cruz, California.

Workshops

In my years of painting I have discovered, like many artists, effective techniques for opening one's heart and mind to the creative source. Helping students discover their own innate creativity is what I am most passionate about. It spills over into all areas of their life and creates much passion and joy for life. Every time I paint, something else comes to pass along to another soul, so teaching is a great outflow for me.
I have found that the secret of expressing oneself honestly is to get into a heart space where everything is accepted. All it takes is learning how to get out of the way and to just listen to one's inner voice. This is what I try and pass on with a little help, some techniques, bundles of warm acceptance and a lot of fun.
